Four Companies Plead Guilty To Laundering “Patience Jonathan’s $15m”

By Temitayo   /   The four companies charged alongside a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Jonathan, Waripamo Dudafa, and two others with money laundering have pleaded guilty to the offence. The four companies pleaded guilty to conspiring with Dudafa and the two others to launder a sum of $15, 591,700 before a Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday. The companies are: Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development & Investment Co. Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited; and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had since frozen the $15.6m found in the four companies’ accounts in Skye Bank. Patience Jonathan Set To Sue EFCC Over Her Seized $15m

By Temitayo   /   Reports have revealed that former First lady, Patience Jonathan is planning a lawsuit against EFCC following the seizure of $15 million found in the accounts of four companies that are currently under investigation for fraud. According to BBC, the antigraft agency has confirmed to them that Mrs Jonathan will be taking them to court for seizing the money which she has since claimed ownership of. In a letter with reference number GA/Abibo/00226/2016 and written by her lawyers, Granville Abibo (SAN) and Co, and addressed to the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, Patience Jonathan had said the $15 million seized by the antigraft agency was for her medical bills and other personal expenses.

The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has said it had revived the e-wallet system for fertilizer allocation and distribution, a year after suspending it.
