    Michael Jackson has topped the list of the highest earning dead celebrities. This is the third time in the past five years that the top-earning celebrity in the world has come from the graveyard. After being pushed into second place by Elizabeth Taylor last year, Jackson, who died in 2009, was back on top with estimated earnings of $160 million in the 12 months from October 2012 to 2013. “He earned the bulk of his bucks from two Cirque du Soleil shows, his Mijac Music catalog, recorded music sales and his half of the Sony/ATV publishing empire – which includes the copyright to hits by the Beatles, Lady Gaga, Eminem and Taylor Swift, among others,” Forbes said. UNBELIEVABLE!! Man in court for stealing dried piece of fish!!

   The Lagos Police Command has arraigned a 25-year-old man, Taye Ibrahim before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a basket of dried fish. The incident occurred on Denton Street, in Ebute Meta area of Lagos, where Ibrahim was one of the men who assisted traders with their wares. He allegedly absconded with the fish he was carrying for the complainant, one Mrs. Temitope Kalejaiye. The stolen fish was said to be worth N72,000. Upon his arrest, Ibrahim allegedly told the police he had sold the item to one Adijat Ahmed, who was equally arraigned for receiving stolen goods. The duo was arraigned on a two count of stealing and receiving on Wednesday. The charge read in part, “That you, Taye Ibrahim, on August 23, 2013 at about 09.30am on Denton Street, Ebute Meta Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did steal a basket of dried fish valued at N72,000, property of one Temitope Kalejaiye.” The defendants said they were not guilty of...

Foreign William Masvinhu once again received the title of the ugliest man in Harare on Friday night at the City Sports Bar. The competition which pits a group of ‘aesthetically challenged’ men against each other in a contest to win the title of ‘Mr Ugly Harare’ was first held in 2011. It is worth mentioning that the competition received a lot of criticism, still it has gained even more popularity. This year the participants were reportedly rewarded with overalls, safety shoes and rain coats; the first runner up, Benny Chakanyuka also received US$100 and the second runner up Funny Musekiwa walked away with US$50 and groceries. She is reportedly suing the station because her movie, Atupa Emi, is illegally been aired on the television station. ASUU: Read The Stories Of Students Who Do Not Want To Stay Idle While ASSU Is On Strike; Share Your Story!

Like on Facebook   follow on Twitter To keep their minds occupied, some undergraduates in Kaduna have ventured into various vocations as the strike by the  Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) continues.  Grace Ocholi,  a 300-level student of English at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that she found a temporary job as a  fuel pump attendant  at a petrol station in Sabon-Tasha area of the city to enable her earn some money until the end of the strike. “Everyone in my house go out every morning to work, and my younger sisters go to school while I stay home and sleep awaiting for their return. “I am not okay with staying idle so I decided to engage in something useful,” Grace said. Nigeria: ASUU Strike - Unilorin Students Call for Truce

By Hameed Muritala, 24 October 2013 Unilorin — Even though they unaffected by the protracted strike embarked by public university lecturers, students of the University of Ilorin have appealed to both the Federal Government and the striking lecturers to consider the plights of students, and reach a truce that will end the three months strike. The students, who have just resumed for the new academic session lamented that they are not happy seeing their colleagues from other schools staying at home while they are in school receiving lectures. Speaking with Quadlife, the students bemoaned the uncaring attitude of government towards education in the country, and urged them to return to negotiation table with the striking lecturers to discuss ways of ending the strike as soon as possible.
