Keshi Not Paid For 7 Months

21 October, 2013 Football The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) owes Super Eagles manager, Stephen Keshi, and members of his backroom staff seven months’ salaries. It was confirmed by NFF President, Aminu Maigari, over the weekend. According to the statement, delays in payment are connected with the financial constraints the football body has been experiencing recently. What is more, Maigari points out that the NFF even had to slash the winning bonus of players of the Super Eagles from $10,000 USD to $5,000 USD as a result. Howerever, the NFF tries to improve Keshi's financial situation by paying for his hotel bills and feeding. Era Of Admitting Underage Pupils Into Secondary Schools Is Over -- Education Officials

21 October, 2013 Education Lagos -- Underage pupils who have not completed primary six would not be admitted to public secondary schools, the Lagos State Government officials have declared. Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, the state Commissioner for Education, made the statement at the weekend's stakeholders' meeting with school proprietors. She explained that, in order to standardise the process, it is necessary to to align the school calendar, curriculum and timetable of public schools with that of private schools. "Henceforth, no pupil will be eligible for admission into any secondary schools in the state without completing primary six. The era of admitting underage pupils into secondary schools in the state has gone," Oladunjoye said. Abigail Barwuah, who is the older sister of Italian footballer Mario Balotelli gave birth on Wednesday October 16th in Italy. It can be recalled that 25-year-old Abigail, who has been dating Obafemi since 2012, lost the first pregnancy. She was reportedly about four months pregnant when she was in Nigeria with Obafemi in December 2012 but lost the baby and got pregnant again almost immediately. This is Obafemi Martins' third child. He has a son with an African woman he dated in Italy many years ago. He also fathered a 3 and a half year old boy with a white woman he dated while playing in UK. He sure seems to be sowing a lot of wild oats. Congrats to the new couple.

ICPC Arrests Five Over Visa Scam

21 October, 2013 Local Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has arrested fresh five suspects over visa scam. This fresh arrest has increased the number of suspects in its custody to 13. A statement by the ICPC spokesperson, Folu Olamiti, said the suspects were arrested over the weekend at different locations. They are Alimi Sunday, Amos Enabulele, Samuel Oboiako, Azeez Abiodun and Philomena Nwanorue. “They were either caught using forged public documents such as bank statements and letters from government agencies or for aiding and abetting the production of same to procure visas at the Indian High Commission. “The latest arrests effected last weekend involved five suspects, three of who were involved in the production of fake documents to satisfy visa requirements, while the fourth  was in possession of suspicious travel documents,” the statement said. WICKEDNESS: Policeman Shoots Engineer During Nigeria, Mexico Match

21 October, 2013 Local A police officer, Sergeant Oludare Ariyo, attached to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Special Protection Unit, Base 7 Command, allegedly shot a building engineer over an argument that erupted at a viewing centre during the match between Nigeria and Mexico on Saturday. The incident occurred in Kpadna community of the FCT. The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Hyelhira Daniel, who confirmed the incident through a telephone chat, said though the officer was not serving in the FCT Command, he would be arrested and the matter investigated and if found wanting, would be prosecuted. When journalist visited Wuse General Hospital, where the victim Mr Joseph Akara, a native of Edo State, is receiving treatment, he said they were watching the match and trouble started when the policeman refused to pay for drinks he had ordered when the waiter requested for the money. Those who went to the performance were shocked with the number of people present at the quietly publicized concert with Wizkid the headliner with guest appearances from label mates Skales, Niyola, Shaydee.
