Okagbare Leads Nigeria Team Into 4x100m Relay Final At Rio

By Anu   /   Team Nigeria now has one last chance to win something from athletics at the ongoing Rio Olympics. The development comes from the qualification of the quartet of Bless Okagbare, Gloria Asumnu, Jennifer Madu and Agnes Osazuwa for the finals of women’s 4x100m relay at the Olympic Games. Okagbare, on Thursday, led Team Nigeria into the finals after posting a 42.55sec finish. The Nigerian quartet came second in heat two behind Germany who clocked 42.18sec and they will hope they can salvage something for Nigeria in the finals billed for 10.15pm Friday in Brazil (2.15am Saturday in Nigeria). It has been disappointments galore for Nigeria at the Olympics as day after day, the country’s athletes crashed out of their respective races with some not even making it before the first round.

By Anu   /   One Chike Nnaemeka, aka Dr Justified has been arrested by The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly tricking an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps into marrying him and paying for the wedding. Nnaemeka who claimed to be a gynaecologist was said to have duped his victim, Nkechi Ani, of N6.7m under different requests. The victim was reportedly introduced to him by one of her classmates at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State. The suspect was also said to have tricked Ani into marrying him and they were joined in a traditional wedding on June 6, 2015, without informing her that he was married with three children. By Anu   /   According to Global Liveability Index of a survey survey conducted by The Economist Intelligence Unit, Lagos state, the commercial nerve center of Nigeria, is the third worst city to live in. Lagos placed 138th out of the 140 cities ranked in the latest liveability survey, just above war-ravaged Tripoli and Damascus. The liveability survey conducted by the data team of The Economist, took into cognizance the best and worst living conditions in major cities across the world across five broad categories, including stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. “Of the poorer-scoring cities, 13 continue to occupy the very bottom tier of liveability, where ratings fall below 50 per cent and most aspects of living are severely restricted,” the report stated. The kit came in on Thursday, just three days before the August 21 end of the games. The embattled trader was let off the hook around 5pm on Tuesday after the intervention of both the Serkin Hausa and President-General of non-indigenes in the state. Ada  said she decided to name her dog ‘Lai Mohammed’ because she admired the minister. She wrote on her Facebook page : “I named it after someone I admired.
