Specifically, the politicians who are currently either under probe or prosecution for allegedly diverting government funds h

Why I Wasn't Surprised By Akpabio's Defection -Udom Emmanuel (PUNCH)

Published September 1, 2018 on Punch Newspap The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, in this interview with TUNDE AJAJA speaks on the recent political developments in the state and his plan for people of the state as he declares his intention to seek re-election in the 2019 governorship election You recently declared your intention to seek re-election as the governor of Akwa Ibom State in the 2019 election; what are the things that should make the people of Akwa Ibom vote for you again? In all sectors of the economy, the question anybody would ask is who could have done it better? That is one. The second one is that in the face of the worst recession ever in this country, which was in 2016 and part of 2017, a governor could pull numerous projects through, and despite the challenges in the country, a governor was able to commit investors to bring money into the same economy going through recession. At that time, it would ordinarily take you almost 10 times the efforts it

2Face: Nigerians Should Stop Celebrating Criminals

Image
Popular afro-pop singer, 2Baba Idibia, has shared his thoughts on the forthcoming general elections in Nigerian. 2Face, who spoke to Showtime in a chat, advised the youths to stop celebrating criminally-minded politicians who are only out to loot public funds. “My advice to the youths is that we should begin to celebrate what is right. We should stop celebrating criminals; we should stop hyping people that have done nothing to benefit us. Imagine, someone wakes one morning and suddenly becomes a Senator with a lot of money; people will begin to celebrate him/her even when he has done nothing for his people. When you campaign for votes and you finally win, you’ve to have something to show for those votes. So, we need to begin to celebrate people who are genuine and not criminals”, he said. 2face Idibia Hopeful that Nigerians would not be deceived by political antics again, he wished for peaceful, credible elections. “I hope so, because that would depend on the electorate. I’m hoping

A policewoman intervened in a matter involving some young boys playing football in the neighbourhood which has now turned out to be a murder case. Obinna Odogwu, Abakaliki A 55-year-old man, Mr Inya Aluu Israel, has allegedly slumped and died inside a Divisional Police Officer’s office located at Kpirikpiri axis of Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital. At the moment, men and officers of the police command serving at the division are making concerted efforts to come out with explanations, which would be acceptable to the deceased’s family on what actually happened to their father. But the greater trouble lies on the table of a policewoman who allegedly intervened in a hitherto minor matter involving some young boys playing football in the neighbourhood which has now turned out to be a murder case. Genesis of the matter It all started at Nri Street in Abakaliki when some children of varying ages were playing football in their neighbourhood. In the course of the outdoor activity, their

Governor Dakwanbo Took 8 Months To Swear In His Cabinet In 2011, 12 in 2015

Image
After all the politicking and members of the Camp of Governor Dakwambo saying they will present a different government from the incumbent president, Buhari it has come to light that the governor also did not swear in his cabinet until almost 8 months after he was sworn in on (wait for it) both terms. The Gombe state governor was first sworn in May 29, 2011 but he did not swear in commissioner until December 24, 2011 in an event that was described as a jamboree which held in the 10,000 capacity stadium https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/amp/news/79757/gombe-end-of-a-dilly-dally.html And while that might be called him being new to things and trying to find his feet, he did it in 2015 but it seems like he was trying to outdo what he did in 2011 as he did not swear I his cabinet until (even I can’t believe this) May 2016 meaning he went almost an entire year. https://www.latestnigeriannews.com/news/2957224/one-year-after-dankwambo-swearsin-12-commissioners.html Is this how he wants to go
