[PHOTOS] Japanese Multi-Millionaire Flies To Brazil To Donate $390,000 To Nigeria’s Olympic Football Team

By Anu   /   Japanese plastic surgeon  cum businessman, Dr Katsuya Takasu who promised to give each player of the squad $30,000 if they win Gold, $20,000 if they win silver and $12,000 for bronze is reportedly on his way to Brazil to watch Nigeria’s Bronze medal match on Saturday. Dr Katsuya Takasu promised to give each player of the squad $30,000 and has promised to hand $390,000 to the Olympic football team for its performance in Rio despite being cash-strapped. According to a statement signed by Raphael B. Kibe on behalf of Takasu, he is giving coach Samson Siasia $200,000 and Mikel Obi $190,000.

Nigeria Wins First Medal In Rio As Dream Team Beat Honduras 3-2

By Anu   /   Nigeria finally has a medal at the Rio Olympics and it came from the Dream Team VI which beat Honduras 3-2 on Saturday to snatch the bronze medal of the men’s football event. Two goals from Sadiq Umar and another from Aminu Umar gave Nigeria a three goal lead but despite Honduras scoring two goals it was not enough to deny Nigeria a priceless bronze medal in a torrid campaign at the Rio Olympics. With this win, Nigeria has now won all medals in the football event of the Olympics. In 1996, it was a gold medal from the likes of Kanu Nwankwo, Austin Okocha and Sunday Oliseh. At the 2000 Olympics, the likes of Efe Ambrose, Victor Nsofor Obinna and Chinedu Ogbuka afforded Samson Siasia a silver medal. Now to 2016 in Rio. I Won’t Represent Nigeria At The Olympics Again – Weightlifter, Maryam Usman

By Anu   /   Nigeria’s female weightlifter, Maryam Usman disappointed with her performance at Rio, says she has lost the urge to represent Nigeria at international events. Mariam was the only weightlifter that represented Nigeria in Rio. She competed in the +75 category and amassed 265 kg. She finished 8th in her group. Acoording to Usman, “It is painful to come to the Olympics and see people who are your contemporaries perform better than you; not because you lack the ability but because you were not prepared like them,” “For me, it is not just about jumping unto the plane every four years to go to the Olympics.
