The famed “Bamboosero” bamboo bikes are one way to travel Ghana by bike, but for the more sturdy, a circular jaunt around one of Africa’s fastest growing economies along 80% paved roads makes Ghana an attractive two-wheel destination. After exploring bustling Accra by bike, head north-east towards the Volta region, home of the Ewe people. Spindly Lake Volta can be circumnavigated along a series of hilly roads, and the brave of heart can even travel up along the former Slave Route to the northern gateway capital of Tamale, launchpad for the largely undeveloped northern regions. Chilee Agunanna: Tonto Dikeh’s music: A disaster caused by social media By Chilee Agunanna on April 2, 2013 0 When I read Charles Novia’s critique of the “music” and movie careers of Tonto Dikeh, I actually felt some parts were a bit over the top. But watching her perform at AY LIVE last Sunday really made me reconsider my judgment of that piece. Clad in white panties/bum shorts, a white shirt, a black bowtie and sneakers, she ascended the stage with a retinue of dancers. There was no real attempt at singing as she was busy trying to pull down the shorts which kept riding up her ass and smiling sheepishly at nothing in particular while the disasters of her songs, It’s Ova, Hi and Crazically Fit, belched from the speakers. It was a really cringe-worthy affair and there was that embarrassing shamelessness of someone who doesn’t care about the public’s perception of her actions yet wants them t

Tonto Dikeh needs to learn how to sing – OJB Jezreel By Kaymi on March 28, 2013 Pin It Babatunde Jezreel Okungbowa popularly known as “OJB” thinks that Tonto Dikeh  still has a long way to go when it comes to music…he says she really needs to learn how to sing…ouch! In an interview with Tribune, OJB Jezreel when asked his opinion of Tonto Dikeh’s music said “The problem is that she wasn’t listening to the key thing. People did not download the song out of love but out of surprise. If she really wants to go into music professionally, she needs to take out her time and learn how to sing. It’s a lot easier to cross into acting from singing but a lot harder to cross into singing from acting. If after her first single, she got better people to coach and produce her songs, she might not have complained so much but there was no improvement. As far as I’m concerned, Tonto Dike’s delving into

Two-headed pig escapes from hell, finds its way into this world

Image
Two-headed pig escapes from hell, finds its way into this world A two-headed pig somehow escaped our worst nightmares and turned up in the Jiangxi province of China, with two snouts, two ears, and, in the middle, a shared eye which, we foretell, will steal your soul if you look into it. The owners have saved the pig from the slaughterhouse, leaving us to ask who will save us from the terror that will fill our heart 24/7 just knowing this thing is out in the world. This mutation is called polycephaly, and occurs when an embryo begins to split into twins but doesn’t complete that process. We’re fine with this in snakes, cats and the like, but a doubled-up pig just seems wrong. Outside of a sandwich, that is. [ Source ]

Rick Ross is (finally) sorry for rapping about date rape

Image
Rick Ross is (finally) sorry for rapping about date rape 20 hrs ago Rick Ross has belatedly decided to listen to his conscience, or perhaps his conscience's wallet, and issued an apology for including a line about date rape in his song "U.O.E.N.O." The unequivocal apology only came after a faux-apology, followed by Reebok dumping him as a spokesperson under pressure from women's rights group UltraViolet. In his apology, Ross touchingly remembers that he forgot that he's "a father, a son, and a brother to some of the most cherished women in the world." [ Source ]

Aliko Dangote Unscripted: The Gravest Danger Confronting Nigeria 14 April, 2013 Politics He could pass for just any other guest. But he is unmistakably familiar. Charming but humble! Stupendously wealthy, yet radiates simplicity. Strolling in, unassuming, was Africa’s richest man. It was his birthday. Dressed in a black suite with a black shinny cock shoe to match, Aliko Mohammed Dangote kept his appointment for 9am. Unlike the rambunctious entry of Nigeria’s men of means and power, Dangote walked in with just a few of his executives. After the informal handshake and introduction, he grabbed the microphone to make some opening remarks which turned out not to be mere remarks. He made earth-shaking revelations about his person, the conglomerate he runs (Dangote Group), the Nigerian economy and how things can get better in a very competitive environment of clashing political and socio-economic interests. At first, the tempo was cool –

Human Parts Dealer Goes Insane

Image
Human Parts Dealer Goes Insane 14 April, 2013 Local Doose Nomhwange left home one morning, unaware that danger lurked ahead. Her friend of many years lured her to a man who traded in human parts. But fate pulled a fast one on her captor who, on the verge of killing her, became mad. Call it a demonstration of power between the forces of light and darkness in which the former roundly won. Read the heartrending account of how this middle-aged widow went to hell and came back alive to tell her story. Unforgettable Day I had lived in Lagos where I had all my kids. But later, I lost my husband. Some time ago, I went back to Lagos to find what to do to take care of my two sets of twins. I was a full-time housewife when I had my children. I intended going back to school to further my education but my husband, an Ogoni, from Rivers State, stopped me because I was too young, and we agreed that I could go back to school when I finished having my

Ferguson Targets Perfect Finish 14 April, 2013 Football Sir Alex Ferguson is looking for Manchester United to take maximum points from their seven remaining fixtures and land the Premier League title in style. The Red Devils suffered derby defeat to Manchester City last time out, but remain 12 points clear at the summit heading into Sunday's trip to Stoke City. United need just 10 points to get their hands on the top-flight crown, but Ferguson has called on his players to finish with a flourish and embark on a perfect run. He said: "We know what we have to do to win the league and we have got a group of players who can do that. "We can win our last seven games, there's no question about that. The great thing is that the consistency we have shown this season has been terrific. "That's a challenge we have now. The expectation here is to win every game. Let's End City's Season - Mikel

Image
Let's End City's Season - Mikel 14 April, 2013 Football John Obi Mikel is determined help Chelsea into the FA Cup final and 'end' Manchester City's season in the process. Two Premier League heavyweights are set to go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium on Sunday for the right to return to the home of English football to face Wigan Athletic. Mikel is confident cup holders Chelsea can edge a step closer to major silverware and ensure that City end the 2012/13 empty-handed. He said: "If we get a good result, it will end their season. "It is a game we are looking forward to and it is going to be a very difficult one. "City are playing well now. They beat United at Old Trafford so they have this confidence. But we have to go out there and do what we normally do. "Against United, some of their football was just breathtaking. If you watched the game, they dominated it. But we can create chances."

The General With N300m Cash

Image
The General With N300m Cash 14 April, 2013 Life and Style Everyone in the country today is talking about how unbridled corruption has ruined the nation. But what I think is actually taking place is a celebration of the same vice at every opportunity. It sounds like an institutional hypocrisy whenever the government makes statements indicating an official disposition to confront the demon of corruption that is ravaging the moral fabrics of the Nigerian society. How do we explain, let alone, justify the phenomenon wherein someone who we all saw in the morning without a dime in his pocket suddenly returns home in the evening a multi-millionaire and the family, the community and the state will not ask him questions about the “miracle” affluence. Last week, nearly all the mass media in the country reported that a top General was almost swindled the sum of N300m in the supposedly ‘cashless Lagos.’ Typically, they failed to disclose the name

The Delta State-born act also speaks on the Delta flood of October 2012. You've been scarce on the music scene lately. What brings you here today? As you can see, we artistes are gathered together to deliberate on how we can help the flood victims in Delta State. Like my place Isoko in general is affected. I’m from Delta State. And you see, sometimes we ignore things. If when things become a problem that’s when we start coming together. But why I’m happy that we are even coming together is the fact that beyond talking we are actually working out modalities on how
