Nigerian Wants Google To Pay N500m For Libelious Publication 15 April, 2013 Local Justice Adedayo Oyebanji of Lagos High Court in Igbosere Monday fixed June 18 for a preliminary objection hearing filed by google internet service provider, in a N500 million libel suit filed by one Mr Nicholas Okoye. Okoye, Chairman of Anabel Group of companies, is accussing Google incorporation for improper editorial censorship over a libelious publication. Other defendants in the suit are: Mrs Ladun Liadi, a blog operator and Google Nigeria as first and third defendants. However, Google, through its counsel, E.A Bahabo had filed a motion, challenging the jurisdiction of the court jurisdiction to hear the suit. Counsel to the claimant, Mr Emeka Okwosa had filed an application for interlocutory injunction to prevent the defendants from further publication of the libelious documents till judgement is passed on the case. Africa's most populous country is offering as much as 80 percent of its shares in thermal power plants located across the country, James Olotu, chief executive officer of Niger Delta Power Holding Co. of Nigeria, which owns the facilities, said today in a phone interview from Abuja. "We have organizations showing interest from all parts of the world," he said without giving further details.
