Yobe Employs 35 Professors From India, Philippines For University 12 September, 2013 Local The Yobe state government has employed 35 professors from India and Philippines for its state own university in Damaturu the state capital. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Musa Alabe informed the governor while on a visit to the institution that the first of the learned fellows that were earlier approved for resumption in the university will be arriving the state capital this weekend. He said series of advertisement made in the national dailies requesting for qualified academic staff in the institution yielded little or no desired result. The decision to employ the said professors according to him is to improve the standards of teaching and learning in the various fields of human endeavour in the institution. There is no sign of when the action will end, despite the Federal Government’s release of N100 billion for renovation of universities’ infrastructure and N30 billion for the payment of earned allowances. The money, the lecturers say, does not meet their demands. Parents and students are also urging the Federal Government to honour the agreement in full.
