Ghana Get There
Ghanaian people are known for their outgoing personalities, and for the cyclist, the nation offers a plethora of other attractions, from historic forts to traditional textiles. The famed “Bamboosero” bamboo bikes are one way to travel Ghana by bike, but for the more sturdy, a circular jaunt around one of Africa’s fastest growing economies along 80% paved roads makes Ghana an attractive two-wheel destination.
After exploring bustling Accra by bike, head north-east towards the Volta region, home of the Ewe people. Spindly Lake Volta can be circumnavigated along a series of hilly roads, and the brave of heart can even travel up along the former Slave Route to the northern gateway capital of Tamale, launchpad for the largely undeveloped northern regions. The less muscular can cut directly west along the north edge of the lake via the Kintampo waterfalls to Bui National Park to do some hippo-spotting.
