Administrators Urge Eaglets To Improve On Fighting Spirit

Sports administrators in Ondo and Ekiti states on Wednesday urged the Golden Eaglets to improve on their fighting spirit at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Eaglets on Tuesday came back twice to draw 3-3 with Sweden in their second match at the competition.
The Eaglets had won its first match 6-1 against defending champion, Mexico, in the group matches.
The administrators told NAN that the team’s technical crew should continue to encourage the young stars to improve on their current form in their subsequent matches.
Tunde Ogunja, a former Director of Ondo State Football Academy, said while the Eaglets showed great resilience against the Swedes, they still needed much concentration to go far.
“The draw with Sweden was not a bad one, the boys are still in their good form, they only need more concentration to go far in the World Cup,” Ogunja said.
Idowu Akinbulumo, the General Manager, Ondo State Sports Council, said the boys needed a lot of encouragement to go far.
“I think they still need a lot of encouragement for them to go far. I believe they have what it takes to win the cup,” he said.
Oluwatoyin Olafusi, a sports presenter and an analyst in the state, urged the technical crew to work on the team’s defensive lapses for them not to concede unnecessary goals in their subsequent matches.
“For now, they should try and forget about their last matches and prepare vigorously for the next one,” he said.
The Director of Sports in Ekiti State, Olukayode Adewunmi, urged the Eaglets Head Coach, Manu Garba, to ensure he used his best in the next match to qualify for the next round.
